Pedestrian Safety Instructors

Our growing organization is seeking to hire a Pedestrian Safety Instructor to work on Safe Routes to School programming with schools in Oxnard. This position involves working with our Executive Director on program development including curriculum, scheduling and creative delivery systems, as well as monitoring project plans, schedules, work hours, budgets, and expenditures, while ensuring that project tasks are delivered in a timely manner.

Our Pedestrian Safety Instructor is a creative, enthusiastic person who can react quickly to various conditions and situations and is comfortable working in front of groups of 24 students or assemblies up to 250. This position requires prior teaching, coaching or camp counselor experience and is primarily focused on K-12 schools in Oxnard, although opportunities to assist in Culver City and Orange County may also be available. Pedestrian safety curriculum, presentation materials and training will be provided. Bicycle safety skills are not required but will be beneficial. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Previous experience as an LCI (League Cycling Instructor) is preferred, but not required, however, our workshops count towards your annual teaching requirements. Not an LCI? That’s ok too – you can still qualify by attending one of our Smart Cycling Classes.
