The City of Costa Mesa aims to improve its active transportation infrastructure and empower adults to ride confidently and safely in their communities while fostering smarter, safer cycling habits.
This comprehensive interactive class is tailored for cyclists eager to enhance their riding skills and knowledge and/or take the first step toward becoming a League Cycling Instructor (LCI) through the League of American Bicyclists. This workshop will also equip you with the knowledge to teach minors and adults how to ride safely within your community.
Ages 18+ only. NOTE: this is not a Learn to Ride class. Participants must be able to ride their bike continuously for a minimum of 30 minutes.

What to Bring: Please bring a bike in good working order, helmet, water and snacks. Wear comfortable clothing, including closed toed shoes, and sunscreen!
Content Covered: Presentation/discussion on bike safety including bike selection and fit, helmet safety, rules of the road, emergency manuevers and best practices for riding with and without bike infrastructure, plus on-bike skills course, and short group ride. Also included are lessons in teaching bike safety to minors and adults. There is an optional Smart Cycling Exam for those considering pursuing LCI status through the League of American Bicyclists.
OPTIONAL You may register and complete the lecture component of the class on The League of American Bicyclists website and join this workshop at 11:00 a.m. for the on-bike skills course and group ride.
