JOB DESCRIPTION

Walk ‘n Rollers is hiring an Education Coordinator to work with our Programs Manager and Executive Director to organize and deliver bicycle and pedestrian safety education programs across Orange  Los Angeles andCounties for K-12 students, adults, and community residents. You will assist in monitoring project plans and schedules, and delivering on programs to meet project deadlines in a timely manner. The ideal candidate has a strong background in active transportation safety education and program delivery, is a League Cycling Instructor (or willing to become an LCI), and is competent in Microsoft Office and Google applications. You must have reliable transportation and must be able to travel across Orange County and Los Angeles County for program delivery on a weekly basis. A 2-year or Bachelor’s Degree in nonprofit management, transportation or urban planning sectors or at least two years of experience in program delivery is preferred for consideration.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assist the Programs Manager in monitoring project plans and schedules
  • Collaborate with City and District departments in planning and delivering bicycle and pedestrian safety education programs 
  • Organize, facilitate, and deliver high-quality safety education events at school and community locations
  • Ensure projects adhere to frameworks and maintain documentation for each project.
  • Provide administrative and project support as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to lead classes and deliver presentations at school sites
  • Ability to show initiative and ability to improvise and adapt to program and site [changes] on the fly
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Competency in Microsoft and Google applications
  • Knowledge of digital file management, transcription, and other administrative procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Travel will be required for this position. Access to reliable transportation is required.
  • Live Scan background check will be required
  • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

  • A 2-year or Bachelor Degree in nonprofit management, transportation, urban planning or related field of study, or in school working toward such is preferred.
  • League Cycling Instructor (LCI) through the League of American Bicyclists, or be willing to become LCI certified.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking and biking, lifting & carrying heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs), bending, transporting bikes, scooters, and other safety supplies. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
