Bike Camp

Do your teens like cycling? Then our Teen Bike Camp may be the right place for them.

This Summer, we are offering two, 4 week sessions starting mid-June. Kids ages 12 and over will learn about bike repair and bike safety through our adopt-a-bike program and group rides.

Each week, students will learn new repair skills and ride to new destinations while learning teamwork, problem solving, route planning and how to safely navigate city streets. Kids will also have the opportunity to earn-a-bike and keep a bike they learned to repair on their own.

On work days (Tuesdays), students should come prepared to get their hands dirty. In these hands-on sessions, kids will learn about tools and safe best practices, bike parts, flat tire repair/replacement, chain maintenance, brake and shift cable repalcement and introduction to wheel truing. Comfortable clothes are recommended and closed-toe shoes are required. Kids should bring a hat, sunscreen and water bottle. Snacks will be provided (please let us know if you have any food allergies).

On ride days (Thursdays), kids will learn to explore their community via bike and transit. Rides may include trips to Manhattan Beach, Little Tokyo, Inglewood Pump Track and more. Kids should wear comfortable clothes. Closed-toe shoes are required. Please also bring a water bottle, sunscreen, snacks, bike lock and means to carry their gear (such as a backpack).

Students will receive a new bike helmet and bike lights for their efforts too!
