The Willits Street Safe Routes to School is a 2 year program to increase safety and education awareness among high school students.
Working with target schools Carr Intermediate, Valley High School and Godinez High School, this project will provide bike safety education, bike repair workshops, group rides, advocacy training, LCI seminar and a community co-opp.
The overall goal is to create enthusiasm for cycling, build a safe, more mobile cycling community and train students to be mobility advocates within the city.

NEW! Summer School Program for teens
Our Summer School Bike Clubs at Carr Intermediate and Godinez High Schools are opportunities to take your cycling to the next level. Throughout June, you will participate in workshops to teach you how to be a better, safer, smarter cyclist. Workshops include:
• Safe Riding – Learn to safe and legal while on your bike
• Bike Repair – Learn bike repair essentials to fix yours and your friends’ bikes
• Group Ride Leadership – Learn how to plan routes, organize, lead and promote group rides
• Community Advocacy – Learn how to identify and report cycling issues and how to work with the City to advocate for improvements
• Earn-a-Bike: If you don’t have a bike, you can earn one by participating in all workshops.
Students should bring their own bikes if possible for the bike repair and riding skills portions.
Students will receive free gear throughout the session: Helmets, locks, lights and more!
Schedule: Each workshop is 2.5 hours 12:30p – 3:00p and includes refreshments!
Carr Intermediate:
Mondays and Wednesdays

Godinez High:
Tuesdays and Thursdays
June 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27
