Internships

Walk ‘n Rollers is seeking students and recent graduates for our internship program. If you are interested in public health, urban planning or active transportation, education and encouragement, you may be the perfect candidate. Internships last 3-5 months.

Candidates will be expected to help with any of the following: Project coordination, event planning; outreach and communications, office administration

Projects range in size and scope throughout the Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Ideal candidates must be comfortable in a team environment or working independently, with public communications and outreach. Travel to project sites is likely.

  • Coordination of various Safe Routes to School Activities, including: Parent / team committee meetings; organizing walk to school activities; promotion of school-based activities
  • Public/community outreach, including tabling at community and school events and attending public meetings
  • Event planning and logistics. Events may include fundraisers, community events and classes
  • Coordinate with other agencies and organizations on various activities and events
  • Data research, collection and analysis
  • Providing creative input for ongoing programs
  • Assist in developing new program elements and solutions
  • Research potential donors and community supporters

Preferred Skills:

  • Be well-organized, professional, courteous and punctual
  • Possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Be comfortable speaking in public
  • Be able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Be a self-starter
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office and Google apps
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
  • Have knowledge of and interest in active transportation and/or the health benefits related to such
