Oxnard
For three years, Walk ‘n Rollers engaged with up 20 schools in the Oxnard School Districts to develop enthusiasm for more walking and biking to school.
Working with the target schools to improve education and enhance encouragement around active transportation, schools select from a list of activities tailored to the needs of their school. Programming included pedestrian and bicycle safety assemblies and workshops, sustainable walk to school day planning and programming and community encouragement activities.
Our partner agency, Fehr & Peers, also conducted walk audits with 52 schools throughout the Oxnard, Hueneme and Rio school districts and presented an engineering report on proposed changes to increase walkability throughout the districts. This data helped build enthusiasm and community support as well as shape the activities at our target school.s
